Introduce Your Main Character Bloghop

I was tagged by the lovely Elsie Elmore to participate in the Introduce Your Main Character Bloghop. She tagged me three days ago, so hopefully the tag doesn't expire. :) Currently, I'm eyes-deep in The December People Series, working in some form or fashion on books 2-4 all at once. So, it's hard to nail down the right story to tell for the hop.

However, I just finished editing book 2, WATCH ME BURN, so I'll focus on that one. In the December People Series, I have what I like to think of as an "ensemble cast." David Vandergraff is technically my MC, but the true MC is the Vandergraff family as a whole and the story is told from multiple perspectives. Book 1 is told primarily from the viewpoints of David and his son Patrick. Book 2 is the same, but a third character shares major story telling duties--Emmy Vandergraff. So, to mix things up, she'll be my "MC" for this bloghop.

Not perfect for Emmy, but it works...and she does look frazzled and confused in a forest.

1. What is the name of your main character? Is he fictional or a historic person?

Fortunately, Emmy Vandergraff is fictional.

2. When and where is the story set?

This story will begin in late July of this year, in and around Houston, Texas.

3. What should we know about her?

Between book 1 and book 2, Emmy is the character that grows and changes the most. She starts as a bratty little kid, and by the end of book 2, well...she's still a bratty little kid, but a much more complicated one. In book 1 she failed to help her friend, and in book 2 she's determined to make up for past mistakes. She shows how courageous and heroic she actually is.

4. What is the main conflict? What messes up her life?

Julie Prescott, Emmy's nemesis from volleyball camp goes missing. Learning she's in danger is upsetting, but the disappearance doesn't become personal until she finds evidence that someone in her family might have been involved. Then, Emmy becomes desperate to solve the mystery and save Julie.

5. What is her personal goal?

Emmy's primary goal is to find Julie. And, she wants to know the truth about what happened to her to assuage her fears about her family's involvement.

6. Is there a working title for this novel, and can we read more about it?

WATCH ME BURN - You can learn more here.

7. When can we expect the books to be published?

The release date hasn't been set yet, but it will be available by the end of the year.

I'll tag a few more participants on Facebook!

  1. I'll admit, Rihanna's voice kept playing in the background of my mind while I read this.

    Looks like a fun book!
